To be honest my experience with dreamhost is quite mixed. But generally very positive comparing to others. I'm for 6 years with them as with one of many hosting options I use. I would not host there a mission critical application. But for smaller sites, development needs, backup it is an amazing service. At least I never had something like "oh, sorry, your data is lost, but it's not our fault but Seagate" as it was with MediaTemple.
